Private Ceramics Classes in San Agustín Etla
My workshop is located in San Agustín Etla, a short walk from the Centro de las Artes de San Agustín. Make a day of your visit to the area and schedule a class with me for after you visit el CASA, one of the best art destinations in Oaxaca, Mexico.
Individual classes
If you can’t make it to my Tuesday group classes for hand building pottery, schedule an individual class!
Individual ceramics classes are also a good opportunity to learn other techniques that aren’t as suited to a group setting, such as use and feeding of the pottery wheel.
Choose between the 1-day pottery wheel class, the 3 day intensive pottery wheel course, the 1-day ceramic hand-building class, or a private group class. Longer-format classes are also available, including a one-week intensive ceramics course.
1-day pottery wheel class
Learn how wedge (knead) clay, center the clay and do a basic pottery shape such as cylinder cup.
- 2 hours of individual and personalized guidance
- 1 hour of solo time so you can practice on your own.
- All the natural clay you need for throwing.
- Bilingual instruction
The cost per individual 3 hour pottery wheel class is MXN$1,000.
Note: We only have one pottery wheel at the studio.
3-day intensive pottery wheel course
Learn how wedge, center clay and make a cup, vase or plate, then how to trim finished pieces.
- 2 hours of individual and personalized guidance each day.
- 1 hour of solo time so you can practice on your own.
- All the natural clay you need for throwing.
- Bilingual instruction
The cost for the individual 3 day intensive pottery wheel course is MXN$3,000. The total class time is 9 hours.

1-day ceramic hand-building class
Learn how to wedge clay and develop your ceramic project with the combination of different hand-building constructive methods such as coils, pinching or slabs building.
- 2 hours of individual and personalized guidance each day.
- 1 hour of solo time so you can practice on your own.
- 1.5 kg of natural clay
- Low-temperature firing for the ceramics you create in the class (without glaze)
- Bilingual instruction
The cost per individual 3 hour private ceramic hand-building class is MXN$1000
Private group classes
Do you want to schedule a private ceramics class and bring a friend (or two) as well? Sounds good! Group classes are for hand building only, unlike individual classes.
Cost for group private classes starts at MXN$600 per-person.

About firing your pottery
I normally fire student ceramics in a collective manner using a large kiln. Once a quantity of work large enough to fill the kiln is complete and dry, I then fire it all together. As a result, wait time to fill the kiln and fire your pieces can reach up to two months. If you need a faster turnaround for your class ceramics, please contact me to assess feasibility and cost for your timeline.
