About

Hello! My name is Paulina Rizzo. I was born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico in 1989, and I studied culinary arts in Monterrey, N.L.
From a very young age, I felt drawn to an artistic path—drawing, painting, and dancing came naturally to me. I began working with ceramics in 2016, and in 2018, I made the decision to move to Oaxaca. I now live in a small village called San Agustín Etla, about 40 minutes from Oaxaca City.
I chose to leave behind the urban life I knew in Monterrey in search of something different—a life that truly called to my soul. Moving without knowing anyone was a leap of faith, and it has been the best decision I could have made. Everything shifted from that moment. My life’s focus became creation, and ceramics and art have given me a profound expansion of spirit and a beautiful path of self-discovery.
Ceramics has taught me so much over these years. It has developed my patience through the slow, deliberate processes of creating each piece. It has challenged me to question what perfection means to me and to the world, and why I chase it. It has deconstructed the conventional paths to success and made me reconsider what success truly means in my life—what holds value and what doesn’t, both in living and in creating.
My creative process is intuitive and meditative, rooted in observing, admiring, and contemplating nature—the source of all life and sustenance. My work is defined by organic influences, soft and flowing lines that create objects with personality and soul, honoring their imperfections.
I currently work with two types of clay—low-fire and high-fire—materials often overlooked in urban life for more conventional lifestyles and definitions of luxury. For me, true luxury is living in a village surrounded by birdsong and trees, where I can see the stars at night and have a studio where I create freely, reconnect with my inner child, and share my journey of life and ceramics with others.
